Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the United States. While the nation has seen an increase in overdoses related to prescription opioids, fatal overdoses involving heroin have tripled since 2010, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And ages 55-64 have the largest increase in overdose deaths.
Dr. Todd R. Cheever will discuss the opioid epidemic on Tuesday, November 14 during “An Evening With.”
Cheever is the Associate Dean of the new University of Kentucky College of Medicine – Bowling Green Campus whose clinical work has focused on treating adults with chronic mental illnesses and substance use disorders. He will share valuable insight into the increase in opioid addiction and how to address it.
